Kursk State Medical University

The training of foreign specialist begun in 1991. A separate faculty for foreign students was founded in 1993. The activity of the University has a state accreditation. The faculty for Foreign students offers a preparatory course (pre-medical) for 10 months duration and medical degree (MD) course for 6 years. At present, there are approximately 1500 foreign students from 30 various countries including approximately 700 Malaysians.

Medium of Instruction

The Ministry of Public Health and the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation approved teaching of the subjects in English. Since 1994, the medium of instructions for foreign students has been in English language for medical studies. However Russian language is compulsory.

Intakes

• Pre-Medical Course
  • There are two intakes for pre-medical course, one in February and the other in September. Applications close on 31 December and 30 June respectively every year.
• Medical Degree (MD) Course.
  • There are two intake for the medical course (MD) in February and September. Application close on 31 December and 30 Jun respectively every year.

Recognition

All the degrees granted by KSMU are recognized by the Russian Government and the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Public Health of the Russian Federation.

In Malaysia, the KSMU's medical degree (M.D.) is fully recognized by the Malaysian Government (see page 45 of the Medical Act 1971) since August 2001. Confirmation can be made with

The KSMU's medical degree is also recognized by WHO, UNESCO, GMC England (Limited Registration).
